Hidden Facts About Auto Insurance

Are you finally at the point of having a new driver in your household? If so, there are many factors that should go into which automobile insurance company you decide to go with. Price is a huge factor, and teenage/new drivers are a liability and more frequently in accidents. In this post, I will show a list of insurance companies and list some of the pros and cons of choosing their company. Also, I will offer some facts that some people may not know about automobile insurance.
Did you know that your insurance company can simply cancel your policy at any time, as long as you violate one or more of its guidelines during your policy period? Things such as failing to pay your premium on time, losing your driver's license, either due to suspension or to revocation, submitting too many claims that are your fault, or misrepresenting your driving history or past insurance claims could all be reasons for cancellation or non-renewal.
In either case, your insurance company must notify you in writing within a timeframe legally required by your state. When it comes to cancelling, your insurance company is required by law to state the reason behind cancelling your quote, however, this is not so with non-renewal. If you want a reason but aren't provided with one, you have to send your insurer a written request. If you believe you've been unfairly treated or discriminated against, you may be able to take legal actions through your state's department of insurance.
Any personal items lost in vehicle theft ARE NOT covered by your auto insurance policy.
A low-risk vehicle will help in the price of your auto insurance.
If you switch policies, don't forget to cancel the old one!
If your friend is driving your car and gets into an accident, YOU have to file the claim.
Your occupation also effects your auto insurance rates, as well as your credit score.
You've probably heard of the urban legend that the color of your car affects your auto insurance rate, but this has been proven to be FALSE.
Online shopping for insurance quotes may be the best place to start.
